WWII WW2 SOVIET RUSSIAN RED ARMY EM NCO BREECHES - WW2 Soviet Uniforms

WWII WW2 SOVIET RUSSIAN RED ARMY EM NCO BREECHES - WW2 Soviet Uniforms

54.00 / $77.76

The Russian adopted the same type of Sharovari Breeches for the EM and NCO from the 1914 to 1969, regardless to the changing political environment. The basic cutting of the Sharovari / Breeches had no dramatic changes throughout the service term except some minor betterment.

The Czar Russian Sharovari / Breeches was more primitive in design when compared with those 1920s, 1930s and 1940s models. As the Soviet garment industry grew steadily, improvement and modification were made on the Sharovari / breeches. It was these later models that widely issued with the M35 / M40 and M43 EM / NCO Summer Cotton Gimnasterka Tunic throughout the Great Patriotic War and various pre-1941 military operations.

WW2 WWII Soviet Russian Red Army M35 M40 Uniform Tunic - WW2 Soviet Uniforms

M35/40 Gimnasterka is the typical uniform issued to memebers of the Soviet Red Army during the early period of the “Great Patriotic War”. This pattern of Gimnasterka uniform has turn downed collar, patch pockets which was introduced to Red Army in 1924, and was modified and standardized in 1935 when the Soviet Government established personal military ranks. There was no major modification throughout its service period until it was replaced by the M43 uniforms in early 1943.

M35/40 Gimnasterka has two versions: the EM/NCO version and the Officer /Commissar version. The main difference between these two versions is that the Officer/Commissar version has color edgings according to the branch of service (Crops) and it does not have reinforced elbow patch. Apart from that, there are also some minor difference on cutting of the pocket and the collar.

By the outbreak of the “Great Patriotic War”, according to the USSR PCD Order No. 253 of Aug.1, 1941, the Subdued Color Collar Tab and Buttons were used by all Red Army troops of all ranks in the battle and marching. Color Edging and Chevron/Sleeve Star of Officer/Commissar were also forbidden to wear under the above circumstances too.

Since many soldiers brought the Backpack home and continued to use it after the Great Patriotic War until they became un-serviceable, nowadays it is very difficult to find an original 1930s / 1940s made “Veshmeshok” Backpack. Many re-enactors and filmmakers have to use more modern 1960s models as substitutes.

WW2 WWII Soviet Russian Red Army M43 EM Tunic - WW2 Soviet Uniforms

69.00 / $99.36

M43 Gimnasterka is the typical uniform issued to members of the Soviet Red Army during the later period of the “Great Patriotic War”. In January 1943, Josef Stalin issued an order to revive the traditional “Russian Military Spirit” by re-adopting the Czarist Russian Style Insignia System and the Military Clothing Style.

M43 Gimnasterka was similar to the WWI Czarist Russia Gimnasterka in appearance. It has Standing Collar (closed by 2 buttons) and Shoulder Board pair, as a great deviation from the design of the M35 Gimnasterka.
