WWII WW2 SOVIET RUSSIAN RED ARMY EM NCO BREECHES - WW2 Soviet Uniforms

WWII WW2 SOVIET RUSSIAN RED ARMY EM NCO BREECHES - WW2 Soviet Uniforms

54.00 / $77.76

The Russian adopted the same type of Sharovari Breeches for the EM and NCO from the 1914 to 1969, regardless to the changing political environment. The basic cutting of the Sharovari / Breeches had no dramatic changes throughout the service term except some minor betterment.

The Czar Russian Sharovari / Breeches was more primitive in design when compared with those 1920s, 1930s and 1940s models. As the Soviet garment industry grew steadily, improvement and modification were made on the Sharovari / breeches. It was these later models that widely issued with the M35 / M40 and M43 EM / NCO Summer Cotton Gimnasterka Tunic throughout the Great Patriotic War and various pre-1941 military operations.

WW2 WWII Soviet PPSH41 Drum Magazine holder - WWii Soviet Uniforms

15.00 / $21.60

Since many soldiers brought the Backpack home and continued to use it after the Great Patriotic War until they became un-serviceable, nowadays it is very difficult to find an original 1930s / 1940s made “Veshmeshok” Backpack. Many re-enactors and filmmakers have to use more modern 1960s models as substitutes.

WW2 Soviet Russian "Turkish-type" Backpack 1930 Pattern

Replica Veshmeshok made from the Standard #1635 of 1930

As a symbol of the Soviet Red Army, the “Turkish-type” Backpack or the “Veshmeshok” Backpack has served in the Russian forces for more than a century! The Backpack was originally a Turkish field gear used in the late mid-19th century. Since the design is simple and functional, the Russian Army used it for the 2nd line units and training units. The earliest model as I know was the M1869. Although there were more modern backpacks developed afterwards, the “Turkish-type” Backpack / “Veshmeshok” Backpack was the standard issue backpack for the Imperial Russian Army and the Soviet Russian Red Army during the WWI and the WWII. This backpack has experienced a series of modifications during its service in the past hundred years. The latest model was introduced in the 1960s, with additional pouches and straps. So far, it is still in active service by the year 2010.

Since many soldiers brought the Backpack home and continued to use it after the Great Patriotic War until they became un-serviceable, nowadays it is very difficult to find an original 1930s / 1940s made “Veshmeshok” Backpack. In 1935, there was an important reform in the structure of the Red Army. Officer Ranking System was introduced. According to the 1935 Uniform Regulation, Army and Air Force Officers had to wear a pair Navy Blue Breeches (with Colored Piping according to the Branch of Service) as part of their Service and Field Uniform (worn with the Officer Belt Kit). In fact, the Navy Blue Officer Breeches were worn in all outdoor events, including training, marching and combat operation.
